I couldn't get a Röyksopp song to upload. Fucker. Mix is mostly electronica, and half of the tracks are instrumental - so you'll need the patience of a saint to appreciate it properly, I suppose. If you're only grabbing one or two tracks - definitely the last two, they are killer. Photo from Museum of Dirt on Flickr.)

etc.

03. If this sounds familiar, you probably listen to Björk - it's built around a sample from 'Possibly Maybe'. Trivia: Endtroducing. . . - the album this song is on - is in the Guinness Book of Records for being the very first album to be constructed entirely from samples of other music.
05. I'm not such a fan of the original track by Autolux, but UNKLE do a fantastic job reworking it.
06. In case you couldn't tell from the dialogue (uhhh duhhhhhhh), from the Blade Runner soundtrack.
08. Instrumental from the soundtrack to the anime Noir.
09. I love this remix because it takes out all the wailing melodrama of the original track (the reason why I really don't like Depeche Mode, sorry!) and turns it into a surprisingly bleak, restrained, likeable track. I think this was given to me by grungy_hamster? Lia is a gun.
10. Originally released on UNKLE's first album (before James Lavelle and DJ Shadow's less-than-amicable split), Psyence Fiction, as 'Unreal', an instrumental track. It was then reworked by Richard File and released as a single with Ian Brown on vocal duties. Both versions are amazing. Also, the video is on YouTube and the chick in it looks exactly like a cross between Hermione and Bellatrix from the Harry Potter movies.
Proof that Melbourne's public transport system is somewhat lacking

Yesterday morning, around 9:30am on a train from my suburb to the CBD in Melbourne, I had this immensely enjoyable experience: I stepped onto the train, breathed in and was instantly assaulted by this awful smell - thought Sweet Jesus, what the hell is that smell, did somebody die on this carriage?, shrugged, and walked into the aisle to find a seat. I was about to sit down at what was the only empty set of seats on the train when I located the source of this smell - opposite me was this epic patch of oddly-coloured, pink puke, half-dried. Freaked, and immediately found a seat as far away from the delightful display as possible.

Yesterday afternoon, around 2:30pm on a train from the CBD to work, I had this immensely enjoyable experience: as the train pulled up against the platform I was vaguely reminded of the morning's ride. Not nice, given I was eating lunch at the time. I giggled a bit to myself, then boarded the train. What greeted me? THE EXACT SAME LOAD OF SOMEBODY'S MUNT, NOW DRIED AND CRUSTED ON A SEAT AND SMELLING UP THE CARRIAGE EVEN MORE.

Oh, Connex. I don't care what the haters say, your customer service is just undeniably excellent.

Also, just in care anybody cares: while I sort of agree with the sentiments behind the strike (whatever re. SUP, but the deletion of interests such as 'bisexuality' and 'fandom' is fairly ridiculous) but if you're going to strike (and really, it's a boycott, what you're planning) do it in a way where the powers that be might give you know, 0.0000001% of a poop? Mailbomb their offices or something? Urinate on their lawns? And, disgusting but true: I cannot believe that South Park slash actally exists, I really think my brain may begin to dribble out of my ears in a second. It is times like these I believe the universe may well be better off without fandom crazies.

Numbered as a way to make my propensity to jump from subject to subject at least somewhat excusable? WHATCHAGONNADO.

01. GOOD (MID)MORNING ALL. Currently I am: sitting in the computer lab at school during a free, doing, well - not very much, really. I have Chemistry next, I am not looking forward to it because of yesterday's prac, which I refuse to think about any more than I need to.

02. Speaking of things that aren't fun - yesterday! Methods SAC fourth session (which wasn't awful, but knowing me. . .), had to stay back late courtesy the aforementioned Chemistry prac. Got home, had about twenty minutes to myself before I had to haul arse to work for a four hour shift (it being opening day and all), got home and ate for the first time that day since quarter past seven in the morning, started going over Plato for today's Philosophy SAC. Which, by the way, is the reason why I have a massive grey smudge on the side of my hand, thank you the four pages of nonsensical babble I produced in the fifty minutes we were allowed.

03. The above two points were written a couple of hours earlier, I'm at home now, and over the course of the day I decided that I will break the arms of the next person to tell me that because I'm a humanities-oriented student and I do subjects like Literature and Philosophy and Legal Studies, I'm a bludger and not very intelligent - and that the converse is true, if you focus on sciences and maths you are really smart. It's the very definition of arrogance and should be punished as such.

04.
View Poll: CALLICLES HAS NO WANG

05. Bugger my schoolwork, the fact that it is going to be almost forty degrees tomorrow (much like today, urgh) means that I will, hopefully, spend most of tomorrow at the beach or at the State Library. I have to work from 7AM to 5PM on Sunday, unfair, but the 200% pay rate makes it sort of okay?

06. Is it just me or is this article's argument flawed in that the reason that girls don't seem to play a very significant role in all those awful weemo songs (please see 99.99% of my sister's music collection) is not a sign of sexism in the emo music genre, per se, it's just a case of total and complete narcissism? Things only matter in how they affect the writer, and never for their own sakes? That's not sexism, that's unoriginality and it's everywhere, not just in emo music - everything from literature to pop music made by girls, too. Uh yeah, I don't know what I'm on about, either. Which is a shame, lately I've been trying to think about this whole feminist movement, how pervasive this sort of thing is and how it affects my life, and how it should? Problem is, if I admit this to anybody in real life and try to work through these issues inevitably I will be labelled a feminazi and be mocked for the rest of my life. Maybe it's time to find some new friends.

07. As if this goddamn entry isn't long enough, chop-change-rearrange meme!

1. You have 50 dollars in your pocket, what do you do with it?
ME/JB HI-FI. Also I need a decent record player, that would be great because the record player on the loungeroom stereo is functional and all, but only one of the two massive speakers work?

2. What is your guiltiest pleasure?
Coffee purchased with what is supposed to be money to buy a Metcard. WHOOPS. Sorry, Mum.

3. Have you ever seen someone die?
I have not and I am very grateful for that.

4. Are you confused as to what lies ahead of you?
I AM IN MY FINAL YEAR OF HIGHSCHOOL, I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT'S SUPPOSED TO COME NEXT

5. What was the last movie you saw, for pleasure, and would you recommend it?
Paranoid Park at the Nova on Monday (Labor Day!), with my mum, and it was great.

6. Superman or Batman?
DANANANANANA BATMANNNNNNN

7. Worst drinking experience?
Munting on a tree in Lia's backyard and waking up next to Jeremy, that was quite surreal. But that night I was feeling really shit anyway, so.

8. If the person you secretly like is already attached, what would you do?
LIVE WITH IT. I am very used to it, the majority of males I adore being twice my age and all.

9. Is there anything that has made you unhappy recently?
External harddrive (named Rinoa) being stupid, the five thousand SACs this week, that I'm not getting my Lit or Methods SACs back until Thursday next week because everything needs to be cross-marked (THANKS MS. PHELAN I HATE YOU) and people actually need to DO their SACs, and they are shitheads.

10. If you could have chosen at birth whether to be a boy or a girl, which would you be?
GIRL POWER, etc.

11. Which of the 7 Deadly Sins do you think you relate to the most & why?
Sloth. BITCHES CALL ME KING PROCRASTINATION and I am just a really lazy slacker at everything.

12. Describe your ultimate sex fantasy.
ROBERT DEL NAJA, CHASE AND GIBBS. How terribly vanilla (but also very hot).

13. Do you believe in fate or destiny?
I believe that verything that will happen in the future is necessitated by previous circumstances, and that given adequate knowledge about the way everything in the universe works, we could predict everything that will ever happen. Of course, this sort of knowledge is by definition impossible to come by, yes, but we're talking theoretically here. HOW DETERMISISTIC.

14. Would you rather be a really good person or a really interesting person?
Interesting. I think? Although, all I really want from life is the satisfaction knowing that I'm both of those things.

14b. If you could be a guest star on any television show in the whole world, which show would you pick and who would you play?
I am a godawful actor (I can't lie at all, can't cry on cue, and burst into laughter at the most inopportune moments), so maybe I would help out the dudes on The Chaser by holding up a sign in a scene out on the street?

15. Do you believe in some form of life after death?
No. I believe our bodies decompose (or are cremated, as the case may be) and our cells and whatnot will eventually be absorbed back into the earth, but some sort of afterlife, no.

16. Which fictional character could you most see yourself marrying?
Atticus Finch from To Kill a Mockingbird, what a champion, seriously. Alternatively if I were really drunk, I might end up marrying Wash from Firefly and could have a polyamorous relationship with him and Zoe? But then she might eat me for breakfast, so maybe I'll just stick with Atticus.

17. What are you looking forward to in the next few months?
Fucking holidays can't come soon enough, getting this goddamn Philosophy essay out of the way, being paid, you know. The whole routine.

18. Do you have a motto? If yes which one?

HATERS ARE COLD INSIDE

19. What type of friends do you have?
Smartarses, the lot of them.

20. What place most speaks to you?
The bridge that goes across the main road near my house, I really like just sitting up there and thinking.

BLAH BLAH SCHOOL WORK I LOST MY ATM CARD CRAMPS HOMEWORK I WANT TO SEE HOUSE ETC.

I thought: maybe, instead of babbling on about my absurdly mundane life, I could share some really lovely photographs? (Not mine, sadly.) I think I've mentioned enough before that I am madly anticipating the release of Goldfrapp's new album, Seventh Tree coming out. And one of the only reasons why I bother buying hard copies of albums, instead of downloading them with varying degrees of legality, is because of the album artwork and the booklets you get inside. PLEASE SEE BELOW:

Needs more Will Gregory, though. He appears in the 'A&E' video, at least! Sure, playing the guitar and looking like a dirty hippie, for what - ten seconds, at the very end? BUT HEY. HE'S THERE.

Can I beg a favour off somebody on my friendslist, maybe? See, being in Australia and on dial-up, I'm not gonna see that new episode of House for ages, probably. And I want to see Thirteen being outed! BISSSSEXUALLLLLLLLLLLLLL, HOT DAMN. Next season she needs to hook up with Cameron, definitely? OHMYGOD. So, if it's not too much hassle, could somebody, I don't know, burn them and mail them to me? Nope? Okay never mind

Also: make me take pictures. Ask me to take a picture of whatever you want, from my favourite spot in the house to the mug I usually drink my tea in, blah di blah. You can ask me to photograph as many things you want, the more the better. Last time I did this, or something similar, I was forced to photograph my underwear drawer. It will not happen again.

First week (and by week I actually mean Thursday and Friday, because the school year started yesterday): over and out!

Year 12 seems like it's going to be a fantastic year. With our final year of school we seem to have been given a substantial amount of freedom! Session 3 I had a spare period, and went with Ilya and Misev into the city to pick up some extra workbooks. With those guys in my spare block I will nevereverever get anything finished! Lunchtime, I walked over to Melbourne University and had lunch there - we're allowed to leave the campus when we don't have classes, and the uni is right across the road. Teachers seem great. Classes are stimulating. They seem to curse a lot, which is odd? Today my Methods teacher used the word 'bullshit' in reference to VCAA, and my Lit teacher called Bacchus Marsh a 'shithole', and it's funny 'cause it's true, so so true!

Had to go to work on my last day of holidays and this conversation happened about halfway through my shift:

Service manager: [comes up to me as I'm changing service lanes] Did anybody call you to confirm your shift here or whatever?
Me: . . .no?
Service manager: Oh. [blahblahblahadminfuckedupyouweresupposedtobecalled] you'renotsupposedtobeworkingtodayatall [blahblahblahshiftsrescheduled]
Me: [feet aching, scanner beep thing ringing in my ears, pissed as all hell] . . .oh.

Apparently Miss Jewel Staite (of Firefly/Serenity fame) will be at Supanova this year!? Be still, my beating heart! Problem: cosplay, I will be wearing it if (when?) I meet her. OH WELL, I SUPPOSE SHE IS USED TO SEEING GEEKY PEOPLE DRESSED UP IN ODD OUTFITS???

(Happy basudaii shiny_shiny!!)
